REWIND: Generations of Hits
Starts Sept 12 - Dec 13, 2026
Saturdays: 9am-12pm
The Big Idea:
Turn back the dial and take a journey through more than six decades of unforgettable music. REWIND celebrates the songs that defined generations — from the revolutionary sounds of the 1960s and the grooves of the '70s, through the iconic '80s and '90s, into the hits of the 2000s, 2010s, and today. Rock, soul, funk, pop, R&B, alternative, and more — each decade brought a new sound, a new style, and songs that became the soundtrack of people's lives. In this class, students dig into the music that shaped generations before them and learn to make it their own.
What You'll Learn:
Finding the Sound of Each Decade — From the raw energy of '60s rock and soul to the polish of today's biggest hits, students learn what makes each era's music sound the way it does — the instrumentation, the rhythms, the attitude.
Playing and Singing Across Genres — Rock, soul, funk, pop, R&B, alternative — students stretch their range by learning material outside their usual comfort zone, building versatility as performers and musicians.
Building a Setlist — Learn how a great show is put together: pacing, energy, and flow, and how professional performers sequence songs to take an audience on a journey.
Ensemble Playing — Whether on vocals, guitar, bass, drums, or keys, students learn to lock in with a group — listening, blending, and building the chemistry that turns a room full of musicians into a band.
Owning the Stage — Confidence, presence, and performance energy — the skills that turn "playing the notes right" into a show people remember.
The Big Finale:
One stage. Seven decades. Generations of hits. At the end of the session, students take the stage together for a live showcase spanning the music that defined six-plus decades — proof that great songs never go out of style.
Best For: Musicians and vocalists ready to perform in a group setting and explore music beyond their usual genre — from classic rock to today's charts.
